Version 2.0 Problem

Hi again,
I have a little problem with the Anybody-Version 2.0. Until now I used
the version 1.3.1 and it worked. Now I downloaded the version 2 (
Preview based on 1.3.1) and got the message: Error:This special Version
of AnyBpdy has expired on 2005-09-30. Do I have to uninstall the 1.3.1
Version to install the new version?

Hi Peter,

Version 1.3.1 and the preview version of 2.0 should be able to coexist, so
that should not be the problem.

The preview versions always have a built-in expire date, because they are
indeed temporary versions; however, when one preview expires a new one
should be available with an extended expire date. The current downloadable
version should not expire until 2005.11.01, but the previous one did indeed
expire on the date you mention. So it looks like you go a hold of the old
one somehow.

I have some questions and leads that should help us clarify the problem:

  • Did you download the AnyBodySetup.2.0.0.preview.exe long ago? Then maybe
    you just need to grab it again to get the newest one.

  • If you do try again, please uninstall version 2.0.0 first and manually
    remove any files left in \Program Files\AnyBody technology\AnyBody.2.0.0.
    (Sometimes sharing violations etc. make the uninstallation leave something,
    but actually it should be enough to run a Repair Installation).

  • If you have downloaded AnyBodySetup.2.0.0.preview.exe not long ago, I
    think there can be 2 cases:

    • If you have downloaded it earlier, the downloaded file might be stored
      in some temporary internet files, and your new download request may simply
      have taken it from there, i.e., from your own hard disk. Please notice
      whether the download take any time, when you try again. (this may be our
      mistake since we update the file, so it keeps the same name on our
      webserver)
    • If you have never downloaded it before, I think we (you) must try to
      reinstall as explained above. If it does not work please zip and email the
      AnyBody.exe file to me, and I shall check out the problem.

Please direct your answer directly to support@anybodytech.com that takes
care of this kind of installation issues.
I promise to make a wrap-up letter on the AnyScript group when we have
solved your problem.
