agonist and antagonist muscle

Hello I am bOkkU from S.Korea.

Ask questions about the difference between the agonist and the antagonist during the Human Dynamic Analysis.

If the arm is slowly lifted, the human body will move with the complement of the agonist and antagonist muscles. If the ANYBODY program do the analysis of the same case, only the agonist muscles are activated.

Are there complementary functions between agonist and antagonist muscles? Or are the agonist muscles active just like the above interpretation?

Thank you.

Hi bOkkU,

The muscle recruitment algorithm do not distinguish between antagonist and agonist muscles, it is all solved as one big equilibrium system.

The antagonist muscles will be predicted if it is of benefit in terms of lowering the muscle activation, this is sometimes seen especially for bi-articular muscles.
