AnyFE2Aba problems

I am student user from Guangzhou. I have been studying finite element analysis about femur during gait, of which boundary conditions conputed from “GaitFullBody” model in AnyBody 5.0. One problem confusing me now is I can see 196 steps in AnyBody model when I run InverseAnysis. However, I can only fing one step in Abaqus 6.12. When I changed the analysis steps in AnyBody from 196 to 10, no change in Abaqus. I would be appreciative if some masters could help me! Thanks!

Hi,

The steps in AnyBody will not become steps in Abaqus - only the load profiles will be output and you would need to select stepping in Abaqus yourself.

The converter creates a profile (*amplitude) of the load, which is then used to create a single concentrated load in the analysis. Please have a look at the generated files in text editor to understand how it works.

Thank you so much! I have looked at the generated file. I can see 2 numbers in each row(*amplitude) . I know the anterior number is time and posterior number may be the magnitude of the load. Would you please tell me how I can create other steps including these loads in Abaqus? How to select stepping? Thank you!
Bless you!

Hi,

Please have a look at the section generated in your file like this one:

*STEP
*STATIC
0.1, 10.000000, 1e-05, 1.

from Abaqus manuals:
"First (and only) line:

  1. Initial time increment. This value will be modified as required if the automatic time stepping
scheme is used or will be used as the constant time increment if the DIRECT parameter is used.
If this entry is zero or is not specified, a default value that is equal to the total time period of
    the step is assumed.
  2. Time period of the step. If this entry is zero or is not specified, a default value of is assumed.
  3. Minimum time increment allowed. Only used for automatic time incrementation. If
Abaqus/Standard finds it needs a smaller time increment than this value, the analysis is
terminated. If this entry is zero, a default value of the smaller of the suggested initial time
increment or 10−5 times the total time period is assumed.
  4. Maximum time increment allowed. Only used for automatic time incrementation. If this value
is not specified, no upper limit is imposed."

Thank you!
I am sorry that I haven’t got the point. You mean that I should change these numbers in text editor if I want to create other steps? Is necessary to create other steps that generated from AnyBody to simulate the kinetics during gait?
Bless you!

Hi,

No, you don’t need to create anything special. The full gait simulation is ready to run, but you may want to play with the stepping options. And yes, that you by either opening the input deck in a text browser or from the Abaqus GUI.

I would recommend to open the input deck in a text browser and see what is happening inside to understand it better.

Thank you so much! I think I can figure it out.
Bless you!
