Calculating DOF

I am quite confused about the ways of AnyBody to calculate DOF, it seems that
the same organ has different number of DOFs when meeting with changing condition.
So I am wondering how many DOF of body segments (knee, ankle,etc)have ?
And how to calculate the constaint number of joint and driver? :confused:

standard models use the LegTD model with following details:

In all standard models engineering joints are used.
spherical joint, hinge joint, …

Hip is a spherical joint and has 3 DOF (all 3 rotations) while all 3 translations are fixed,

Ankle has 2 hinge joints (Ankle and Subtalar) with each 1 DOF…
