Chair reaction forces

I am having difficulty understanding how anybody calculates the chair reaction forces in the Airline Passenger model.

Could someone please explain to me how this Anybody model does this?

Hi John,

Those reaction forces are modeled with very strong artificial pushing muscles (strength about 3000 N). They can create normal and friction force. The fact that they are muscles means they are part of the optimization. Therefore the solver will use them in an optimum way so that they fulfill the equilibrium equations and the body is correctly supported.

Best regards, Sylvain.
