Hi,
during the modification of an armmodell i had an accident and now the
radius of the model is rotated from elbow on in a very strange
direction. Seems to me that i had the wrong window active while i
wrote something. But i can’t find it. When i run a kinematic analysis
everything is ok until the model fulfills the initial conditions.
Could you have a look in my model ( i uploaded it) and tell me where i
have to look? Thank you very much, best regards, Maren
Hi Maren
I looked in the folder named:
Anystarter_Armmodell
crazy_radius_position
but it appears empty, so i could not try out the model.
It sounds like it could be your initial positions which should be
changed a bit. If you are using the Mannequin.any file please try to
make some changes to this, so that the initial position of the model
is closer to the position where it should end up.
Best regards

Hi Sören,
sorry for the empty folder. Yesterday i replaced the complete BRep
folder and now it works again. Do you have an idea, which file i
changed? When i compared the definitions of radius and ulna to them of
the original gearstick model, they are equal. And the positions in the
Mannequin file are the same like the startpositions for the kinematic
analysis. I will upload the model again.
Best regards, Maren

Hi Maren
I have tried to reproduce your error but i have not succeded doing
so.
I loaded you application into the Rep.6 while trying make your model
load i found a small error in the file
SpineTwoArms/BodyModel_mus3e.any
In the bottom of this file it loads the file
interface/spinerightarm.any
while it should have been
interface/spineTwoArms.any
but i guess you have already corrected this, otherwise your model
would not have been able to load with the driver you have applied.
With the files i have got from you should the model end up with the
radius in the wrong direction?
Best regards
Søren

Hi Sören,
the error has to be in one of the used BRep-Files. I hoped you would
have an idea where to look without uploading the whole used
BRep-Includes. When i change the whole BRep-directory again a new one
which i downloaded, the radius position is ok.
I think it would take too much time to find every used BRep-File.
Would this be easier in the new AnyBody version?
My suggestion is to use the new BRep and stop searching the mistake in
every single include. Nevertheless thank you very much.

Hi Maren
I have some other ideas about which files to look into
Arm3D/jnt.any is the file describing the joints of the arm, if you
did anything changes in this file it might have cause the problem.
I could also be related to your initial positions somehow.
The radius segment can in principle fullfill its kinematic
constraints in two ways, this comes from the way the joints are
defined. The solution you see now is the one you would like to
avoid. The way to avoid this solution is to provide a good guess on
the initial positions. So it could also be the r0 and Axes0
properties of the Raidus segment which has been changed or deleted.
These you may find in the Arm3d/seg.any file close to the beginning
of the definition of the Radius segment. If it is the missing
r0/Axes0 definition this is the problem then you should be able to
see this on the position of the radius bone at load time.
I am not sure if these kind of problems will be easier to track down
in the new version, but it will contain new facilities for browsing
the model which should provide more info on the model.

Hi Sören,
thank you for this hint: it was an accidently outcommented line in the
Arm3D/jnt.any file. Now everything is fine again. Thank you very
much, best regards, Maren
