Driver angles referring to the global reference frame

Hello,

as far as I understood the joint driver angles define the relative
rotation between the adjacent bodies. Is it also possible to make them
refer to the global reference frame. Like the joint was attached to
that fixed frame. It would make extracting kinematic data from images
easier for me.

Kind regards,

Dieter

Hi Dieter,

The joint itself will always refer for its measure to one of its two
segments. If you want to measure the joint angle in global coordinate system
you can create a rotational measure between one segment and the global
reference frame. If you don’t drive this measure it will not affect the
motion of the joint, it will just measure the angle.

If you want to drive the joint with some measured angle in global
coordinate, you can create the same rotational measure and drive it this
time, and switch of the driver of the joint to keep kinematic balance. I
understand this is what you want to do. If not please write again.

Best regards,

Sylvain, AnyBody Support.

Hi Sylvain,

I thought it was that way but I wasn’t sure. Thx a lot!

Kind regards,

Dieter
