I’m just beginning to use Anybody and look at its suitability to my
project.
I’m developing a 3D dynamic head-neck model. By the moment I been using
Matlab-Simulink as the main platform for the work. In specific I’m
looking for the geometrical description of the skull and cervical
vertebrae to be incorporated in the model.
If you have suggestion or examples to look at from Anybody, it would be
highly appreciated.
Welcome to the group. One of the guys from the AnyBody Research
Group, Mark de Zee, has been working on a cervical spine model for
some time. I shall forard your question to him. He is currently on
paternity leave, so it may take a little time for him to answer.
By the way, Mark will be present at the upcoming ISB conference in
Taiwan, if you happen to be there.
Best regards,
John

As John already indicated I am developing at the moment a cervical spine
model with many muscles included. I hope to make this model available in
the repository somewhere in the autumn of this year.
Most of the data for my model is based on a neck model described in a
PhD thesis written by Marike van der Horst:
“Human Head Neck Response in Frontal, Lateral and Rear End Impact
Loading – modelling and validation”
This thesis is freely available for download: http://alexandria.tue.nl/extra2/200211336.pdf
I guess you can get some inspiration for the modeling part by looking at
how we modeled the lumbar spine. Many of the modeling challenges might
be the same.
If this doesn’t answer your question, don’t hesitate to write again.
Regards, Mark
