Suggestion - Record / Model view options

Good day,

I would like to make an improvement suggestion to the model/view record
interface. I compare different subjects and therefore run a model with
different parameters (scaling, forces and marker trajectories). To compare
the videos, it is more interesting if the points of view are the same
between each run/subjects.

Would it be possible to have a save and load “camera orientation and
position”?

I guess this would be fairly easy to implement and would greatly improve the
usability of the model view. Also, since there are still a few bugs with the
model view/record (frequent crashes, no generation when window minimized and
updates not happening (blank view) after a few frames), this would make
things easier.

Thanks!

Hello Jean-Olivier,

It is a good idea, indeed and we are doing something like this for the
coming version. Cameras (i.e., viewpoints) will be new objects in AnyScript,
so in this way you can make image exporting a integrated part of your model.
I am sure you will like this facility, even though it is bit young in
AnyBody yet.

A similar camera definition is used in the AnyBody workspace files in the
sections for Model Views, so view points is now stored with the workspace
(.anyws file). I think this may also handle your case more automatically
than writing AnyScript code yourself.

Saving and loading view points separately have not crossed our minds before
you mentioned it now, but we will consider it now for sure. This could be
useful for transferring view points between two entirely different models,
e.g. in two AnyBody instances running simultaneously. It is no a big
technological problem of course, but unfortunately it is too late for
AnyBody version 3.0.

I am not going to comment about the crashes of Model View, but I promise you
that I have red ears;-). We are not proud about the crashes and we have been
trying to improve it for the coming version.

Thank you for the response. This kind of feedback is very valuable for us
and we appreciate it very much.

Best regards,

Michael
