convert anysurf to stl

Hi guys,

how can i convert the anysurf geometries back to stl data? I need this
to compare the geometry of models in different simulation programs.
Thanks for your efforts, best regards, Maren

Hi Maren

There is not such a functionality in AnyBody right now, but you can
make a script in MatLab or similar to convert between *.anysurf and
*.stl. I don’t remember anyone did that yet. I can provide you with a
snysurf and a stl file of the same thing and you can easily see the
relations. Let me know if you want me to upload that.

Best regards

Hi Christian,

it would be nice, if you upload this two files.

Hello Maren, Hello Christian,

Since I needed the same functionality as Maren, I created such a script.
Hope it can be useful to someone on the list. I uploaded it under
anysurf2stl_1.00.rar.

Dear All,

Our company is a distributor for AnyBody software as well as ANSYS (FEA
& CFD). We are putting the final touches for the one-way interface we
created between AnyBody and ANSYS. This new program, “Any2ANS”, reads in
any AnyBody simulation results and writes out bone geometry and
displacements/rotations such that they can be used as boundary
conditions in ANSYS FEA models; we convert anysurf files to stl’s and
read them into ANSYS solid modeling tools where one can add a medical
implant for further analysis.

We will be exhibiting AnyBody as well as the new interface between
AnyBody and ANSYS at the upcoming “American Society of Biomechanics
Conference” at Stanford University (Aug 22-25). We also have a paper
that we are going to present at the CADFEM User’s meeting in late
November (November 20-23) in Dersden, Germany; this paper will outline
how AnyBody, Any2ANS, and ANSYS can be used for medical device product
development with a specific example in medical device to be used in
spinal applications.

If anybody is interested in this new interface, please feel free to
contact us. Also, if you do not have acces to AnyBody modelling system,
and would like to see a demo (especially in California) and/or need
pricing information, please contact us as well.

I apologize for the marketing content but I thought that I should bring
the new developments to to your attention here.

Thank you and best regards,

Metin
