Direction of joint torque values

Hi,

What directions are indicated by the +/- sign for the following joint moment outputs. For instance, what does positive hip torque corresponds to : hip flexion or extension?

Main.HumanModel.BodyModel.SelectedOutput.Right.Leg.JointMomentMeasure.AnklePlantarFlexion
Main.HumanModel.BodyModel.SelectedOutput.Right.Leg.JointMomentMeasure.KneeFlexion
Main.HumanModel.BodyModel.SelectedOutput.Right.Leg.JointMomentMeasure.HipFlexion
Main.HumanModel.BodyModel.SelectedOutput.Right.ShoulderArm.JointMomentMeasure.GlenoHumeralFlexion
Main.HumanModel.BodyModel.SelectedOutput.Right.ShoulderArm.JointMomentMeasure.ElbowFlexion

Since each of these output are defined as flexions for each joint, does + sign always indicate flexion direction of a given joint and vise versa?

Best regards
Jeevan

Hi Jeevan,

That is correct. The positive sign corresponds to the direction that the output is named as. So, if you see flexion in the output name, + values indicate flexion and - values indicate extension.

Dave

Hi Dave,

Thank you for the clarification.
