gait model ability questions

Hi,Søren
special thanks for your attention and attempt to answer my questions.

how does software calculate parameters?

I think,at first a full body model are developed, after that data are
aquired from a human gait such as (position, velocity,…via markers) and
they are applied to model. Now,another parameters can be calculated such as
internal forces,by knowing structure and real data, doesn’t it?

you mentioned 4 problems that are disability reasons to calsulate forces:

1)a full body model is needed.I think a full body model exists in any
body,doesn’t it?

2)balancing issue,I can not understand this problem because I dont know
where this model comes from!Is it a human model which is walked by real
data or is it a passive model!if it is a passive model, how can it walk?by
which data?and if it uses human data, why we should need a “helping hand”?

3)If we have a full body model like that one is existed in any body, does
we have to do anything more?if yes,is it very complicated?

4)If we know harness force is constant and known,is there any thing else
to do?

Hi,

1)Obviously for calculating reaction forces we need full body model, but I
can not understand how internal forces can been calculated by lowerbody
model?we need boundary condition,don’t we?

2)What is your suggestion?I want to have reaction ground forces with
certain weight compensation.

Hi Jalal

Normally in the gait model we apply a measured force to the feet, the pelvis
is supported in all six by the ground. This setup is ok since the forces are
measured in each foot.

When you have no forces measured you will need to setup boundary conditions
between the feet and the ground. These boundary conditions will be shifting
in time like I mentioned earlier these should be constructed by conditional
muscles.

I think you should follow the steps I gave previously; this will allow you
to run the model without the measured forces, but with shifting boundary
conditions. By applying different loads to the pelvis you will also see
differences in the reaction forces.

This is a difficult model to do, I will recommend going through all
tutorials before doing this model. This will make it easier also to plan the
model development.

Please ask again if you have further questions.

Best regards

Søren
