Anthropometric Measurements

Hi AnyBody Groupe,

which anthropometric measurement devices (and methods) have been used
for determining the segment datas in the master thesis of Annegarn
2006 “Scaling Strength in Human Simulation Models”? I’m looking very
forward. Thanks a lot.

Hi Costa

I asked Janneke Annegarn who did this work to help answer your question,
here is the answer:

Leg volume was estimated using leg lengths and circumferences according to
the method described by Jones and Pearson (1969). Arm volume was obtained by
measuring displaced water after submerging the right arm in a tube full of
water. Masses of leg and arm segments were estimated from volume
measurements. The densities of both extremities were assumed to be 1.060
kg/m3.

Jones, P.R., Pearson, J., 1969. Anthropometric determination of leg fat and
muscle plus bone volumes in young male and female adults. The Journal of
physiology 204, 63P-66P.

Best regards
