Inverse dynamic analysis quesions

Hey Anybody support tech,
I just wanted to thank you for all your help, and continued work for
this group. That being said I’m almost finished with my model and have
a few more questions. My model is based off of the free-posture.any
body, and is constrained to the environment at the hands and feet (and
to a lesser-extent the knees and elbows).

When applying a fourier driver to the pelvis-rotation, the simulation
DOES run, but on the latter rotation (pi->2pi), all the muscles are
overworked and turn purple. Being a symmetrical model and movement,
why doesn’t this occur at the beginning (0->pi) ? How can I fix this?
Also, I notice really high activity at the shoulder jnts, but I don’t
know how to manipulate these for better initial position (apparently
the mannequin.any file says it doesn’t control them ?!?) Lastly, in
experimental testing I have emg sensors available, and according to
the model, have important activity in the shoulders. If I want to
compare these vales to Anybody, which muscles should I select for the
easiest/best comparison?

Thanks again for your help, attatched are the files in Imatani_model2

Hey Kyle,

You have a switched off Reaction on the AnyKinEq HandPosL, which makes your
model asymmetric, switch it on and it should work. I’m a little unsure about
your second point. The Mannequin file just states that it is not using the
Velocity part for the initial position. Concerning the EMG part: This is of
course also highly dependent on your experimental setup. You may not be able
to measure any muscle you want. So best would be to concentrate on major
muscles. But honestly I’m not the experimental EMG guy.

Hope this helps a bit, otherwise please come back.

Best regards,

Sebastian

Hey,
Yeah I think I missed that last reaction.type. Now Im getting this
error though –

ERROR(OBJ1)

‘Study’ : Unhandled exception in Inverse Dynamic Analysis (Muscle
Recruitment); solver was not called

I have recieved this error occasionally and sometimes it goes aways
without any changes??? What does it mean and is there a way to fix it?

Hello Kyle,

Of course, this error message sounds a little bit strange, especially that
it goes away without any changes.

Sorry for the inconvenience this causes and thanks for bringing this to us.
We really like to figure out the reason for this, but I would need some more
information. I debugged your model yesterday and did not experience this
error, so I assume it is a slightly different model you are talking of?
Could you please post the model which got this error message, then I will
have a closer look on it and forward it to our development team to resolve
the issue.

Best regards,

Sebastian
