In this FreePostureMove model, the total metabolism of muscles has been calculated. It can be measured in the lab for validation. More info in the next post.
Intro:
Every muscle consumes a power. it can be found in it’s output. Here’s an example.
Main.Study.Output.Model.HumanModel.Trunk.MusclesSpine.RectusAbdominis.RA.Pmet
So, to calculate the metabolism, Pmet total has to be found.
To do:
The attached file contains the sum of 571 Pmets in FullBodyModel. in freePosture(?), FreePostureMove or StandingModel, copy the attached file next to .main.any file and use this study.
AnyBodyStudy Study = {
AnyFolder &Model = .Model;
tEnd = 1.0;
Gravity = {0.0, -9.81, 0.0};
nStep = 1;
#include "TotalMetabolism.any"
};
Benefits:
- The file is well classified
Drawbacks:
- I’m not sure whether I have missed any muscles
- Not intended for Partial Body Models
Hi saeedveradi!
I am trying to predict the energy consumed by muscles during gait and am planning to confirm this prediction with laboratory measurement.
Do you know what the .pmet calculation looks like?
Do you have any documentation or publication that explains it?
How would you go about validating anybody model metabolism with experiment?
I would greatly appreciate your help.
Regards,
Cesar Flores

hi everyone
Did you guys ever calculated you basal metabolic rate with online tools? Any experience in that area? I’ve tried bmr calculator , but I am willing to give another tool a shoot. Please recommend
