6 DOFs Patellofemoral joint modeling

Hello,

I want to construct a 6 DOFs Patellofemoral joint using AMS7.2 (AMMR2.2) by replacing the patellar tendon into ligament with high stiffness. Because of unknowing the specific process, the model always fails due to the indeterminate in kinematics.

Hi Lee,

You are missing kinematic constraints. If you removed constraints on X degrees of freedom - you should add X back. And they should also define kinematic behavior in the freed up degrees of freedom.

Unfortunately I do not know what you did exactly, but i guess you removed the patellar ligament constraint, which drives the distance between patella and tibia. It means that you need to add one that would define the position of patella when it slides on the femoral condyles.
