GaitApplication / GaitUniMiami

Hello guys,

It seems that the changes made to the gait application from version 1.4 up
“broke” the GaitUniMiami model.

Only version 1.3 is able to resolve the model position analysis.

Versions 1.4 and 1.7 give:

ERROR(82) : Failed to solve position analysis.

While version 1.6 gives:

ERROR(0) : System is kinematically indeterminate.

Which one is right? Is the GaitUniMiami wrong or is the GaitApplication 1.4+
wrong?

Thanks!

Hey Jean-Oliver,

You are right about the bug in version 1.4-1.6. It was a bug that I by mistake
introduced in the “old” gait model when I made a version that is compatible with
the new TLEM model. However, I thought I fixed it in version 1.7. It at least
worked on the dataset that I tested it on.

Could I ask you to upload your model to the filesection and I will take a look
at it?

Hello Michael,

In fact, all I try to do is run version 1.7 off Gait Application 2 on the
UniMiamiModel from the repository version 7.0. So you can simply download
the repository, but I suspect you already have it.

Thanks,

Hello Jean-Oliver Racine,

I looked back over my logs of changes and I think I know what the issue is but I
will need the support people to confirm this.

As far as I can see, the change that was made from version 1.3 to 1.4 was that
it was found that the scaling of pelvis was incorrect when using length mass fat
scaling both in the AnyBody model and in the hardcoded model inside
GaitApplication2 and this was what was changed from version 1.3 to 1.4. This
also means that the marker positons on pelvis would have to be changed.

I suspect that the GaitUniMiami model was made when the error was still there
and the optimisated motion is made using version 1.3. I am not sure if it was
ever re-run or not since I did not make this particular model.

Anyway, it should be possible to get it to work using the latest version of
GaitApplication2, but it probably needs a tiny little tweeking of the markers on
pelvis.I hope this helps.

Hi Jean-Oliver

Michael’s explanation sounds very likely, the repository was released April
25 and GaitApplication2 on May 8, so the GaitUniMiami has not been created
using ver. 1.4.

So please try to change the location of the markers on the pelvis slightly
this is could be the problem.

If it continues to cause problems please write again.

We will correct this in the next release of the repository.

Best regards

Søren, AnyBody Support
